Ezekiel 22:30 -
"I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and
stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not
destroy it, but I found none." So what is God looking for?
He’s looking for someone who will stand, and if He can find one
person to stand He won’t have to destroy the land. But God found
none. What’s necessary to be a person who stands in the gap? We
find the answer in Jeremiah 5:1 - “Run through the streets of
Jerusalem, search her squares to see if you can find one man,
one who does justice, and seeks truth that I may pardon her.”
This study on Standing in the Gap looks at different people
throughout scripture that God has been able to use to stand in
the gap and change the world in which they lived – Hannah, the
Syrophonecian, Jonah, and Ruth.
Lord, I don’t know all that you want to do in my
heart, but I am available and the desire of my heart is to do
what’s right, and to seek truth, and to repent of sin. Do you
know what will begin to happen? You and I will be begin to be in
a position that God will be able to use our lives to touch the
world for Jesus, but do you know why we have so little impact on
the world in which we live? It’s because we’re clogged channels,
and we’re full of little things that we say, “well, that doesn’t
matter. That’s just how I am.” No, I will not be that way
anymore. I will call sin, sin. It takes all kinds of faith to
let our guard down and to let Jesus protect us.
