Dear Costa Rica Support Team,
web.jpg)
Words cannot express to you our deep and humble
gratitude for your love, financial and prayer
support as we embarked on a journey of faith and
obedience to share the joy of the reality of a holy
heart at the National Women’s Conference for the
United Methodist Church in San Jose, Costa Rica. One
hundred and twenty women from across the nation
attended which included over 40 pastors’ wives or
district vice-presidents.
While the trip was challenging and difficult (the
enemy put up a good fight), our God prevailed! Let
us share with you some of what God did through you.
We took 850 books to give to the women, books that
the Francis Asbury Society and Barbour Publishing
donated,
Lydia Prayer Guides,
a Bible Study book by Aletha Hinthorn and two
handouts with Scripture and guidance for victorious
Christian living. And they were all in Spanish! The
women were so hungry and so thankful for written
material about the deeper Christian life. We were
also able to bring clothes for the women and white
towels for one who was starting her own business of
a hair salon. You can imagine what we looked like as
we showed up at the airport with 10 suitcases and 8
carry-ons.
God
gave us strength, His mind and His Word as our team
prepared to speak 10 times, but actually spoke 13
times over the four-day conference! The women heard
from God’s Word that He loved and delighted in them,
that they can enter into a divine love relationship
with Father, Son and Holy Spirit as they give
themselves 100% to Him and receive all of Him. He
can be their Savior, Center and Source and that
Jesus is enough. Being a lover of Jesus means
following His example and laying down our self-will
and taking up the will of the Father. This is what
we were made for! If we have fellowship with Jesus,
we will participate in His sufferings. And do you
know what? Many of the women said, “yes” to Jesus!
On
the last day of the conference the bishop’s wife had
a cross at the front of the conference room, which
was a concrete, open air building. She challenged
the women that if they wanted to make Jesus their
center and give their all to Him, they should come
forward and place their name tag on the cross as a
symbol. Before she was finished giving the
challenge, one young woman stood in the center
aisle. She was out of prostitution and drugs. She
had made Jesus her center that morning.
We
prayed with another pastor’s wife and mom of four
boys. She came very tired and spiritually empty. The
demands of life and church were great. She shared
her heart with us and met Jesus in a new way. Since
returning, we’ve heard from her and she and her
husband are reading
The Mind of Christ
together by Dr. Kinlaw. This is one of the books we
gave her.
Another walked up to Linda, looked her in the eyes
and said in English with great concentration, she
had practiced, “Jesus, heart. Jesus is enough.”
Vicki
New and an interpreter recorded some of the women as
she asked them, “What has this conference meant to
you and how has God spoken to you?” They answered
with the following:
It
has been such an incredible experience for me…For me
it has been a time of confirming the ministry that
God has given me. And it’s been a time for
refreshing in my life. I feel very motivated. It’s
been a time where God spoke to me to continue
working for Him and for me to continue working with
the women in my community and in my province. I
thank God for each of you that have come here, and
each of the talks have been inspired by God and God
has worked through them.
-Rossie (She leads a Bible Study in her home with 35
women from her community.)
This conference has been wonderful
and God has manifested Himself in such a powerful
way. God has spoken to me in different ways…. One of
the projects that He’s given me in my heart is to
start a Lydia Prayer Group. I already have 5 women
to begin with. Know that I will be praying for you
guys and please keep us in your prayers, and also as
you pray, pray for me and the group that God would
help me.
-Esperanza
The
conference was excellent. It was very rich. We
learned a lot. It has touched my deepest self
through the Scriptures. These things are very
important and very real. You have taught us you can
have new mind…and a deeper desire of serving God,
and Him being the center of our lives. -Maureen
For me it was very special because I
learned a lot. Our sisters from other countries
brought everything for us. God used you and talked
to me through you from the bottom of my heart. Today
I felt God took a huge weight off my life and I feel
really free. -Evelin
Beth challenged the women to start Lydia Prayer
Groups. Fourteen women told us they were starting
Lydia Prayer Groups! Many of them asked us to please
pray for them and their group. Will you join us in
praying for them? There is the potential through
these new Lydia Prayer Groups and the women who gave
God full control of their lives for God bring
revival to Costa Rica turning the tide of an entire
nation!
We
cannot thank you enough for your prayers and for
sending us as Christ’s ambassadors to the women of
Costa Rica. We believe eternity will be different as
a result. We are praying that these women, their
families, their churches and the nation will never
be the same. We could not have gone without you. We
can’t wait to be near you in heaven and overhear the
women telling you of what a difference your gift and
prayers meant to them. We don’t want to wait until
heaven, we want to tell you now what you mean to
us—we love you!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Love,
Beth Coppedge, Linda Boyette, Vicki New and

Therefore
we also pray always for you that our God would count
you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good
pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with
power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be
glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the
grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ
(2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 NJKV).
